So yesterday was the, now infamous, gymnastics class again. I was out of town week 2 and Nana claims they were running "too late" to make it - between you and me, I think she was afraid it would be a repeat of week1!
So anyway last night was week 3, of this session, and Kathryn declares once again she is not going to class. So I decided to not make a big deal out of it. I get Caroline dressed and we head of to class. The entire time Kathryn is reminding me that she is NOT GOING. She claimed that she was too tired - a common complaint among the little people when they don't want to do something!
So, we get there and Caroline goes to class no problems, which I am oh so thankful for. Anyway, Kathryn and I stand at the glass watching Caroline. At first it is just stretching and warm ups, so she really didn't care that she was in the hallway. Well about 10 minutes into it Kathryn realizes that they are having fun... without her. All of a sudden she looks at me and says "Mama, I need to go to class now. Can you take me in?" YEAH!! I just about did back flips down the hall. So I walk her and in WHALA no problems. I was so stinking excited I called my husband and mom immediately. I thought for sure this not wanting to participate in class problem would drag on all summer, so you can imagine my excitement that it was only a couple weeks!
Just had to share...now we shall see how Saturday's Ballet class pans out....

It finally happened....
Oh boy oh boy... you hear about Mothers who children embarass them beyond belief, you may have even witnessed it ... all the while thinking "thank goodness that isn't my child" or "oh you poor, poor woman - I am so so sorry!"
Yah well - that poor poor woman was ME today! Yep after almost 4 years I was there. So a little background for you... yesterday was a bit of a rough day too. We went to VBS at 6pm and there were a couple tears when I left. Got home, doing chores and about 7pm my phone rings... the girls won't settle down, can you come get them?... hmmm I think to myself, slightly annoyed that they were acting up, but I chocked it up to them being overtired and me being out of town, etc. etc. (isn't it amazing how we can justify childrens actions) anyway, I go pick them up, take them home and put them right to bed. I told them if they want to act like babies then that is how Mommy was going to treat them... like Babies and babies have to go to bed early.
okay, so that was yesterday - now today.... we have gymnastics just after 5. So I get home at about 5pm exactly and find the girls sleeping, which was slightly annoying since our Nanny knows they have class. So I proceed to wake them up, of course, they're cranking and complaining. I think they will get over it once they get up and going.
So I get them changed into gymnastic garb and get them into the car. We get to the Y and they both start whining that they have to go to the bathroom. Okay fine - we go, nevermind we went before we left the house - 2 minutes ago - literally!
So here is where it gets good... We get to class and they both LOSE IT!! I mean crying and whining and generally being bratty. So I take them to the side and give them a choice.... straighten up and go to class (as they have for the last 5 months) or continue to act up and then go home and go to bed. Caroline wants to go to class but wants me to come sit inside, okay fine, I go inside with Kathryn, who as she declared wants to go home and go to bed. The next 10 minutes is Kathryn crying and whining inside the gym while Caroline participates. Finally I have had enough, Kathryn is not settling down, despite all my threats and bribes - so I take her into the hall. Of course she now screaming at the top of her lungs. One mom in the hall trys to make small talk with the screamer and I - of course, probably trying to be friendly or a distraction - but it does little more than make me feel like that poor poor woman referenced above, oh and it makes Kathryn scream louder! (which I didn't know was possible) so in the middle of all this, the teacher comes out and says "Caroline is crying, she wants to stay in class but she wants you to come back in" Of course, this is impossible with the screaming hyenia I have with me. So I tell the teacher "can you bring her out here, I think we are just going to call it a night" Again, I get the poor woman look - okay fine people I get it - I have two screaming hyenias for children... its okay, really I will be okay. As you can tell this is what I am thinking to myself as I calmly take each child's hand and proceed to walk to the car, however while walking to the car I was greeted with at least another 20 "OH my goodness" looks along the way as my hyenias and I made our way to the car.
So there it is 3 3/4 years into this journey I had that "Oh My Goodness" experience. I like, I am sure so many other Moms out there have wanted to do, went to my car and tried my hardest not to break down into tears!
So now everytime I see a fellow Mommy going through this, I am no longer going to give her the "oh goodness" look, instead I will know what that feels like and have a bit more compassion....

Longest Week Ever....
Okay the title may not be entirely true. It was really nice to hang out with old friends and make new ones however, being away from my "chicks" was tough.
This past week Kevin and I were both out of town with work. I headed to Florida for our company meetings and he to Washington D.C. for a conference. For both of us it was the longest we had been away from the girls.
Of course, they loved staying at Nana and Papas house and I honestly think it was harder on us than on them. They got to go to McDonalds to play on the playground, go to Chick-fil-a (for Nana's birthday) or really ....to play on that playground, and they even got a new "crazy" sprinkler to play with outside. Mommy and Daddy however, got to work!
I got home last night right before dinner, driving 2 hours from Louisville to see them for about 5 hours before coming back down here today. (I have to finish up a show here today) You may think I am crazy... 6 hours of driving to see them for 5 hours? TOTALLY worth it. Seeing them made it possible for me to come back down here and be sane. I dont know if other working moms feel that way but not seeing them for that long (6 days!!) seriously was making me a bit nutty. I start to feel like my heart is disconnected from my body.
Okay folks, enough rambling for now.... gots to get back to work.... time to play circus!
Hugs!
